Air samples taken pass through a duel stage filter system, which removes any dirt or dust before the air is delivered to a smoke detection chamber. Once dust and dirt has been effectively removed from an air sample, and the air sample reaches the laser detection chamber, the air sample is then exposed to laser light. If smoke or other unseen combustible gases are present in the chamber, the light from the laser will scatter. Because the laser detector is calibrated, any deviation or dissipation of the laser’s light will trigger a fire alarm.
